Pawan Kalyan calls for formation of Sanatana Dharma Protection Board

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has called for the establishment of a ‘Sanatana Dharma Protection Board’ to safeguard Hindu beliefs, values, and cultural sentiments. Stressing that protecting Sanatana Dharma is not merely a religious act but a moral responsibility, he said it was time for a structured effort to preserve the spiritual and emotional fabric that binds millions of devotees.

Speaking about the significance of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), Pawan Kalyan said the holy shrine was “not just a pilgrimage centre but a sacred spiritual destination revered by Hindus worldwide.” “The Tirupati Laddu is not just a sweet; it’s an emotion that unites us all. We share it with friends, families, and even strangers, because it represents our collective faith and deep devotion,” he said, noting that over 2.5 crore devotees visit Tirumala every year.

Pawan Kalyan issued a stern message against those who mock or denigrate Hindu beliefs, saying such acts wound the sentiments of millions and erode trust. “When our customs and beliefs are ridiculed, it doesn’t just hurt, it shakes the faith of millions of devotees across the world. Secularism must work both ways. There can be no compromise when it comes to protecting and respecting our beliefs,” he asserted.

He described Sanatana Dharma as one of the world’s oldest and ever-evolving civilizations, embodying values of peace, coexistence, and spirituality. “It is now the right time to establish a Sanatana Dharma Protection Board with the consensus of all stakeholders,” he said, urging collective responsibility in preserving India’s spiritual heritage.

Pawan’s remarks came in the backdrop of actor Prakash Raj’s social media post that stirred controversy over comments related to Tirupati Laddu. In a sharp statement, Prakash Raj wrote, “Instead of mixing religious fanaticism and adulterated politics in the name of ghee, focus on punishing those who actually committed the wrongdoing.”

Pawan Kalyan refrained from naming anyone but made it clear that mocking faith for political or ideological reasons cannot be tolerated. Reiterating his vision for a balanced and respectful dialogue between faith and modernity, the Deputy CM said Sanatana Dharma’s endurance lies in its inclusiveness. “Our tradition is ancient, our spirit timeless. We must protect what defines us, our culture, our faith, our dharma,” he said.
