‘Telangana Govt giving greater push to sports’

The Congress government in Telangana, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is giving priority to sports and encouraging athletes across the state, said Uppala Srinivas Gupta, President of the Badminton Association of Medchal-Malkajgiri district and Cice-President of the Telangana Badminton Association. He attended the closing ceremony of the Yonex-Sunrise G.H. Raisoni Memorial 5th Telangana State Mini Badminton Championship-2026, held at the Pullela Gopichand National Badminton Academy in Gachibowli.

He highlighted the contribution of Pullela Gopichand and Saina Nehwal, who have brought laurels to Telangana and India, and urged young players to take inspiration from them. In the Boys Singles category, Anish Bollu of Rangareddy emerged champion, while in Girls Singles, Nidhitha Reddy Katukuri of Warangal won the title. The Boys Doubles title went to Srihan Kotagiri of Sangareddy and Vedansh Reddy Vippagunta of Vikarabad, while the Girls Doubles championship was won by Nidhitha Reddy Katukuri and Srinika Gampa.
