The Transport Department, Government of Telangana, has taken a major step towards digital governance by successfully operationalising Non Transport Temporary Vehicle Registrations through the VAHAN portal from March 23, 2026. This initiative reflects the State’s commitment to enhancing transparency, efficiency, and citizen convenience in public service delivery.

As part of the rollout, nearly 1,000 automobile dealers across the State have been trained through both physical and online sessions to ensure smooth implementation of the system. The department has also completed 346 financial integrations and authorised 671 dealers, enabling decentralised and seamless processing of temporary registrations.

The system is being strengthened in a phased and module wise manner to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reliability. Since its launch, the VAHAN portal has already facilitated the generation of approximately 33,000 Temporary Registration Certificates across Telangana, demonstrating strong adoption and operational success.

In the next phase, the Transport Department will commence the generation of Permanent Registration Certificates from April 11, 2026. This move is expected to further simplify vehicle registration procedures and reduce processing time for citizens.

Additionally, citizens will soon be able to conveniently download their Registration Certificates and Driving Licences through the NextGen mParivahan mobile application. The app will also offer a range of additional services in a phased manner, further strengthening digital access to transport related services.

Officials stated that the implementation of the VAHAN based registration system marks a significant milestone in the digital transformation of the Transport Department. It not only enhances transparency and accountability but also ensures hassle free, efficient, and citizen centric services.
