Leveraging the Miss World competition as a global platform, the government plans to showcase Telangana’s rich historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage to the world. The Telangana government has unveiled its first-ever Tourism Policy, aiming to position the state as a prime tourist destination in India and attract investments worth ₹15,000 crore in the sector.
The government has designed special initiatives to promote the state as a "Multidimensional Tourism Hub" on the global map. With representatives from 120 countries and live broadcasts in over 150 nations, the Miss World event will spotlight Telangana’s tourism potential. In 2024, Telangana welcomed 1,55,113 international tourists. The state aims to significantly boost these numbers through the Miss World platform
During the event, the Miss World Contestants would be taken on several visits to historical monuments, Warangal’s Thousand Pillar Temple, Warangal Fort, Ramappa Temple which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and witness Perini dance at the temple. It also includes a visit to Yadagirigutta temple. On May 12, a heritage walk is planned from Charminar to Laad Bazaar.
Handloom & Medical Tourism
On May 15 an interactive session is planned at Pochampally village to showcase handloom weaving and textile artistry. On the following day, a visit is planned to all the leading hospitals in the city to showcase the medical facilities.
Eco-Tourism
On May 16, a visit to the famous Pillalamarri Tree in Mahabubnagar is planned followed by a visit to Ramoji Film City, one of the world’s largest film studios the following day.
Visits to Telangana Police Integrated Command and Control Center to highlight safety initiatives, Sunday Funday Carnival at Tank Bund, Shilparamam crafts village and attending an IPL Match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium (Uppal) is planned.
The government is seeking to position Telangana as a cultural, historical, and modern tourism hub, boost employment through tourism-linked industries like hospitality, handicrafts, and heritage conservation and highlight infrastructure, safety, and investor-friendly policies to attract global capital.
The Miss World event will serve as a catalyst for Telangana’s global branding, showcasing its UNESCO sites, eco-tourism spots, medical facilities, and vibrant culture. With this initiative, the state aims to emerge as a must-visit destination for travellers seeking a blend of tradition and modernity, said a senior official.
