The Cybercrime Police of Hyderabad have arrested two individuals involved in a Rs 25 lakh matrimonial fraud, while a third accused remains absconding.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Aneesa Mohmadyaseen Hundekar (33), a resident of Bijapur in Karnataka, and Mohammed Abdul Aamer (31), a resident of Hyderabad. The third accused, Zohar Fathima (24), also from Bijapur, is currently on the run.
The case dates back to March 2023, when an unmarried man came across an Instagram profile named khoobsurat.rishte, which displayed a photo of an attractive woman. Upon reaching out to the contact number provided, he was approached by a woman claiming to be a prospective bride. Through multiple video calls and conversations, she gained his trust and eventually defrauded him of Rs. 25 lakh, citing fabricated medical emergencies and domestic problems.
The victim later discovered that the profile photo belonged to Parwsha Shah, a Pakistani YouTuber, and realized he had been deceived.
Investigations revealed that the accused used fake photos and videos to lure potential victims, targeting individuals through Instagram and Islamic matrimonial WhatsApp groups. Once contact was established, they employed emotional manipulation tactics to extort money, which was then routed through bank accounts linked to the accused.
