Former Rajya Sabha member V. Vijay Sai Reddy has put an end to speculation over his political comeback, announcing that he will launch a new political party in Andhra Pradesh rather than return to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). Speaking to the media after offering prayers at the Tirumala temple on Wednesday, Vijay Sai Reddy said he had sought the blessings of Lord Venkateswara for his new political venture. He said the decision was aimed at opening a new chapter in Andhra Pradesh politics and providing a strong voice for the people.

Vijay Sai Reddy said he would reveal the name, organizational structure and future political strategy of the new party at a media conference to be held in Vijayawada later this month. He also said he prayed for the prosperity of the country and for people to remain protected from the impact of El Niño. His announcement assumes significance against the backdrop of months of speculation over his political future. Vijay Sai Reddy had resigned from both the Rajya Sabha and the primary membership of the YSRCP last year, announcing at the time that he intended to stay away from active politics and concentrate on agriculture.

However, he subsequently reversed that decision and indicated that he would return to politics, while also expressing plans to establish his own media organization. Since then, he has remained active on social media, regularly commenting on political and national issues.

His recent political statements had triggered speculation that he could eventually rejoin the YSRCP. The former MP, however, repeatedly maintained that he followed an independent political outlook and would take decisions based on the interests of Andhra Pradesh rather than political pressure.

There has also been considerable social-media speculation over a proposed party called ‘Bharat Jana Vikas’. While the final details of his political outfit are yet to be formally announced, his latest statement makes one point clear: Vijay Sai Reddy intends to return to Andhra Pradesh politics with a party of his own.
