Actor Vineet Kumar Singh stressed the importance of rooted storytelling in Indian cinema during a session at FICCI Frames. Emphasizing the richness of India’s cultural heritage, Singh urged filmmakers to draw inspiration from rural narratives and local traditions rather than blindly following trends.

He said that stories grounded in India’s traditions, language, and heartland continue to make a lasting impact. Singh recalled his journey with the film Mukkabaaz, which he wrote when he was not getting roles he envisioned.

Quoting the Indian national anthem, he explained how words representing different regions carry diverse music, dance, food, and language, all of which add unique fragrance to stories that resonate with audiences.

Singh warned against creativity driven solely by money, calling it a “dark tunnel” that filmmakers should avoid. He highlighted the spiritual nature of Indian stories and the melting boundaries of language, encouraging storytellers to bring these tales to the world.

Sharing the stage with actors like Neena Gupta and Pratik Gandhi, Singh’s words reflected a call for authenticity and heart in filmmaking as the industry evolves.
