The Cybercrime Police of the Detective Department, Hyderabad, have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with a fake job scam. The accused, Ponnaganti Tej Kumar, a resident of Chittapur, Andhra Pradesh, allegedly impersonated an HR representative from Accenture to cheat a job aspirant.
A 23-year-old student from Asifnagar filed a complaint after being duped of Rs 1.70 lakh. The fraudster contacted the victim via WhatsApp, referenced his resume, and offered a fake job with a Rs 6.5 LPA salary. To appear credible, he used a spoofed email ID of a real Accenture employee and demanded money in the name of processing fees.
The victim transferred the amount in four installments between July 27 and July 31, 2025. After the payment, the accused stopped responding. Realizing he had been scammed, the student approached the police, leading to the arrest. Authorities urge job seekers to verify offers through official company channels and avoid paying money upfront.
