The State Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, Ponguru Narayana, has announced that the construction of 1.18 lakh TIDCO (Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation) houses will be completed by June 12, 2025. Addressing the media after the 44th CRDA (Capital Region Development Authority) meeting chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the State Secretariat, the minister said that the State government has approved Rs.102 crores to complete TIDCO houses.

Minister Narayana revealed that the government has allocated Rs. 102 crore to address the issue of non-performing assets (NPA) related to pending TIDCO houses. He stated that this decision reflects the Chief Minister’s commitment to resolving delays caused by the previous administration, which had abandoned or canceled several housing projects.

Between 2014 and 2019, the central government sanctioned 7,01,481 TIDCO houses, of which 4,54,706 units were grounded, and construction began on 3,13,832 units. However, many of these projects were left incomplete. The minister criticized the prior government for diverting funds intended for housing loans, resulting in stalled projects and financial irregularities. Under the current government, around 77,000 houses have already been completed, and an additional 1.18 lakh homes will be ready by mid-2025.

The CRDA meeting also approved a Rs.2,723-crore project to develop road infrastructure in Amaravati Zones 7 and 10. This initiative forms part of the broader Rs.47,288 crore allocated so far for Amaravati’s development. The minister assured that tenders for these projects would be floated by January 15, 2025, ensuring swift commencement of the work.

Minister Narayana reiterated the state government’s commitment to developing Amaravati as a world-class capital without imposing any financial burden on the public. He clarified that the government intends to repay loans through revenue generated from the sale of pooled lands collected from farmers, dismissing rumors of any additional taxes.

Highlighting the government's balanced development strategy, Minister Narayana detailed initiatives undertaken between 2014 and 2019 to distribute central institutions equitably across all 26 districts of the state. These include, Tribal University in Vizianagaram, IIM (Indian Institute of Management) and Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy in Visakhapatnam, National Institute of Technology (NIT) in Tadepalligudem, AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in Mangalagiri, IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) and IISER (Indian Institute of Science Education and Research) in Tirupati and Central University in Anantapur.

Minister Narayana also mentioned efforts to attract global corporations, such as Google and TCS, and the revival of the Lulu Group in Visakhapatnam. In Kurnool, the government is establishing a drone hub over 350 acres, while various manufacturing units are being set up across the Rayalaseema region.

Minister Narayana emphasized the adoption of Amaravati’s land pooling model to create satellite cities around these ports, fostering regional growth and industrial development.

He stressed that the government remains steadfast in its goal to complete Amaravati’s capital development within three years. He assured the public that every rupee spent from the state treasury would yield sustainable benefits and urged citizens not to believe baseless rumors about the government’s initiatives.
