The newly elected executive body of the Telangana High Court Advocates Association has urged the Telangana government to extend comprehensive health insurance coverage to advocates practising across the State.

In a formal representation submitted to Law Secretary Papi Reddy, the Association highlighted that several advocates, particularly those enrolled after 2019, remain outside the ambit of the existing health insurance scheme. The leaders stressed that access to affordable healthcare is essential for the legal fraternity, especially for young and early-career advocates who often face financial constraints.

The Association emphasized the critical role played by advocates in the justice delivery system and called for welfare measures that ensure their professional and personal security. Along with health insurance, the delegation requested the introduction of a structured stipend scheme for junior advocates to support them during the initial years of legal practice.

Additionally, the Association sought the immediate release of pending grants, stating that these funds are crucial for the smooth functioning of the organization and for undertaking welfare initiatives.

The delegation, comprising President S Surender Reddy, Vice President D L Pandu, and Secretaries P Shravan Kumar Goud and Niranjan Reddy, expressed optimism that the State Government would take a positive and proactive approach in addressing their concerns. They reiterated that strengthening welfare measures for advocates would ultimately contribute to a more robust and effective legal system in Telangana.
