Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar has written yet another open letter to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, sharply criticising the State government over what he termed as failure to address farmers’ issues and implement promises made in the Congress manifesto.

In the letter, Sanjay questioned the State’s response to his earlier communication, asking whether raising concerns on farmers’ welfare warranted political counterattacks. He accused Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao of lacking awareness about key policy matters, including the Minimum Support Price policy and crop insurance schemes. Sanjay pointed out that the Congress had promised to bring in a law guaranteeing MSP, and alleged that the State leadership was now backtracking.

He stated that while MSP policy decisions lie with the Centre, implementation remains the responsibility of States. He also claimed that nearly 20 lakh farmers were yet to benefit from the promised farm loan waiver. On crop insurance, he questioned why the State had neither implemented the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana nor introduced an alternative, leaving farmers vulnerable to crop losses.

Refuting allegations against the Centre, Sanjay said Telangana continues to receive substantial financial support, including annual SDRF funds of around ₹400 crore. He demanded transparency on how these funds were utilised, alleging inadequate compensation for crop damage. Highlighting paddy procurement, he asserted that the Centre procured a majority share of grain in recent seasons, dismissing claims that only 25 per cent was being purchased.

Sanjay urged the State government to stop political blame games, ensure MSP for farmers, provide bonuses for paddy in the Rabi season, and immediately implement manifesto promises to safeguard the farming community.
