Plantation planned across 133 km

Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister Dr. P. Narayana on Wednesday announced an extensive green-development plan for the capital region, emphasising that 30 percent of Amaravati will be dedicated to greenery as part of the ongoing urban rejuvenation efforts.

Speaking at the CRDA office, the minister said a 133.3 km plantation corridor has been planned across key stretches of the capital area. Parks and landscape zones will be developed in multiple localities to align with the broader environmental vision for the capital.

“We have prepared special green-and-blue concept plans for Shakamuru, Krishnayapalem and Neerukonda,” Narayana said, adding that the tendering process for all works would be completed by the end of January. Beautification works will be scheduled according to flower seasons to ensure year-round vibrancy, he said.

The minister also revealed that green buffers are being created along 22 major roads, with plantations on both sides to enhance the ecological balance and visual appeal of Amaravati.

A total of 2,168 farmers are yet to complete registrations for 7,743 plots allotted to them, and the government is personally contacting farmers by phone to expedite the process. Additionally, 719 acres worth of plots still need to be allocated to farmers who contributed land under the pooling scheme.

“If farmers do not come forward, we will have to proceed with land acquisition,” he cautioned.

Narayana announced that a special help desk for farmers will be set up at the CRDA office.
