The Andhra Pradesh Budget for the Financial Year 2025-26 is all set to be presented on Friday (February 28) by Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav. The main objective of this budget is to achieve the state's GSDP growth rate of 15 per cent and grow into a USD 2.4 trillion economy by 2047. For this, the government is trying to increase the capital expenditure and go ahead with long-term plans. Apart from allocating adequate funds for the implementation of their schemes, the government is also taking special care to review their financial impact. In particular, the implementation of super six schemes is being given priority.

Super Six schemes include “Thalliki Vandanam”( Rs 15,000 per year to the mother of every school going child),Annadata Sukhibhava(input subsidy to farmers), free bus travel for women, Deepam 2.0(free gas cylinders), social security pensions and renovation of Anna canteens. Some of these are already being implemented. The implementation of these assurances will require huge allocation of funds. Chief Minister Chandrababu made it clear that despite the fiscal deficit in the state, the government is committed to fulfilling the welfare schemes.

The government, which has taken up the development of the capital as the most ambitious, has set a target of completing Amaravati at a cost of Rs 60,000 crore in three years. More than Rs 30,000 crore of loans have been secured from international agencies such as the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. More clarity on this will be given during the budget. Urban renewal projects, improved road connectivity, industrial growth and investments in renewable energy sectors are expected to be a major priority in the budget.

In coordination with central government schemes, education and health sectors will be given top priority in the state budget. Improvement of school infrastructure, free health care schemes and strengthening of rural health centres will be a special attraction in this budget. With the completion of budget reviews of 28 departments for the finance ministry, all the ministers have appealed to them to allocate more funds to their departments.

For example while the irrigation ministry alone has sought Rs 37,000 crore, the government is ready to allocate Rs 27,000 crore.

The full-fledged budget, to be presented by the NDA government, is expected to stabilize the state's financial situation, balance welfare, infrastructure development and investment in industries.
