Hyderabad: A Khazana jewellery store in Chandanagar, Hyderabad, was targeted by a masked gang of six to seven robbers on Tuesday morning. The gang opened fire inside the store, injuring the deputy manager in the leg before fleeing with ornaments on display.
The incident occurred around 10:35 am when the armed gang stormed into the store, threatened the staff, and fired two shots, one hitting the deputy manager and the other damaging CCTV equipment, according to Cyberabad Police Commissioner Avinash Mohanty.
The injured staffer was rushed to a hospital and is reportedly out of danger. After failing to access the locked safe, the robbers took some silver jewellery and escaped on two-wheelers. Police have recovered empty bullet shells from the scene and are reviewing CCTV footage, which shows the assailants wearing masks, kerchiefs, and helmets as they entered the store.
Preliminary investigations suggest the gang may have conducted a recce before the heist. Commissioner Mohanty confirmed that special teams have been deployed, and a thorough investigation is underway. Authorities are working on available clues to identify and apprehend the culprits.
