District Collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha has urged banks to play a pivotal role in achieving the 15% sustainable and inclusive growth target across all sectors as part of the ‘Swarna Andhra @ 2047’ initiative.

Chairing the District Consultative Committee (DCC) and District Level Review Committee (DLRC) meeting at the Sri Pingali Venkayya Conference Hall in the Collectorate on Friday, Dr. Lakshmisha emphasized the need for banks to achieve their annual credit plan targets.

“Banks should focus on progress in all parameters of the agriculture, industrial, and service sectors. Special attention should be given to the PM Vishwakarma Yojana and Surya Ghar Yojana,” the Collector said. He also stressed the importance of expediting the loan application process.

The meeting discussed the progress of the banking sector in the district, with the Lead District Manager providing a detailed overview. The district has a total of 548 bank branches, including 92 in rural areas, 125 in semi-urban areas, and 331 in urban-metro areas.

The meeting also evaluated progress in terms of total deposits, advances, advances to SHGs, and key banking indicators.

As of September 30, 2024, 60.63% of the priority sector target and 79.27% of the non-priority sector target had been achieved for the 2024-25 financial year. Overall, 72.38% of the total target of Rs. 73,000 crore had been achieved.

The Collector instructed banks to focus on achieving their annual credit plan targets and to prioritize progress in all sectors. He also emphasized the need to expedite the loan application process.

Dr. Lakshmisha highlighted the crucial role of banks in the successful implementation of various government schemes and programs. He urged banks to work towards achieving their targets based on government priorities. He also called for special attention to be given to KCC cards for tenant farmers and KCCs for the livestock sector.

The Collector suggested conducting short-term training programs for youth on solar panel maintenance and repair in collaboration with the Rural Self-Employment Training Institute (RSETI). He noted that this initiative would help address the potential shortage of manpower in the solar sector, especially with the increasing installations under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

The Collector also suggested including financial literacy awareness programs in self-help group meetings. The meeting also discussed PMEGP, Stand Up India, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, Atma Nirbhar-PM SVANidhi, and AP TIDCO-PMAY (Urban), among others.

The meeting saw participation from key officials, including DCC Convener M. Sridhar, RBI Manager Nag Praveen, NABARD DDM Milind Chousalkar, LDM K. Priyanka, RSETI Director Mallikharjun Reddy, DRDA PD K. Srinivasa Rao, and representatives from agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture departments, and various bank controllers.
