Bonalu festivities were celebrated with great fervour across Greater Hyderabad on Sunday, with major temples witnessing a steady influx of devotees from the early hours.

Thousands of women thronged temples to offer Bonam, Odi Biyyam, sarees and other traditional offerings to the presiding deities. The city wore a festive look, reverberating with drumbeats, performances by Potharajus and devotional trances of Shivasattulus.

As part of the celebrations, Endowments Minister Konda Surekha, along with Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, MP Anil Kumar Yadav and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, visited several historic temples across the city. They visited the Lal Darwaza Sri Simhavahini Mahankali Temple, Charminar Bhagyalakshmi Temple, Shalibanda Akkana Madanna Mahankali Temple, Gaulipura Mahankali Mateshwari Temple and Mahakaleshwara Devi Temple at Mir Alam Mandi.

Temple officials and priests accorded a traditional Purna Kumbham welcome to the dignitaries. The leaders offered silk clothes and Bonam to the presiding deities and participated in special prayers. The priests later offered Vedic blessings and distributed Teertha-Prasadam.

Meanwhile, other Cabinet Ministers visited various temples across the city and offered silk clothes and Bonam to the presiding deities on behalf of the State government.

Officials from the Endowments, Police, GHMC and Electricity departments worked in coordination to ensure elaborate security and civic arrangements, enabling devotees to participate in the festivities without inconvenience.
