The Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has stated that the decade-long rule following the creation of Telangana state failed to fulfil the people’s aspirations that were born out of decades of struggle. He said the people of Telangana had decisively rejected the past regime’s hegemony and dominance and elected a people’s government with a clear mandate for change.
“Our agenda is simple — to fulfil the dreams and aspirations of Telangana’s people,” Revanth Reddy said in the State Formation Day celebrations held at Parade Ground, Secunderabad.
“We are correcting the distortions of the last ten years and rebuilding systems that were rendered dysfunctional. Our eyes are firmly set on the future Telangana Rising 2047. And by 2027, we will strive to make Telangana the number one state in the world.”
Marking the 12th Telangana State formation Day celebrations, Revanth Reddy paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the statehood movement and recalled the pivotal role played by former UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi in granting statehood. The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s commitment to honouring the sacrifices made by countless youth and students who fought for a separate Telangana.
“Telangana was born out of struggle, sacrifice, and the democratic aspirations of its people. It is now our responsibility to realise the true vision of that movement — a Telangana that is inclusive, transparent, and people-driven,” CM Revanth Reddy stated.
Since assuming office on December 7, 2023, the Congress government has focused on restoring public trust and rebuilding democratic institutions. The Chief Minister highlighted the reconstitution of key institutions such as the Telangana Public Service Commission, Lokayukta, State Human Rights Commission, and the appointment of Vice Chancellors to long-vacant university posts. These steps, he said, are part of a broader effort to restore the sanctity of the Constitution and deliver governance rooted in accountability and transparency. “We are not merely managing a government; we are reviving the spirit of democracy in Telangana,” the CM asserted.
Empowering Women, supporting Farmers, uplifting Youth
The Chief Minister laid special emphasis on the empowerment of women, announcing that over 52 crore women have benefited from the free RTC bus travel scheme, and 32 lakh families have received free electricity up to 200 units. He also spoke about Indira Mahila Shakti Yojana, aimed at the holistic social and economic empowerment of women.
The government has fulfilled its promise of waiving crop loans worth Rs 20,617 crore, benefiting 40 lakh farmers. Telangana became the first state to procure paddy at Rs 2,500 per quintal, purchasing over 275 lakh Metric tonnes this season. Additional steps to support farmers include free agricultural power, strengthened Rythu Bharosa Kendras, and initiatives for tenant farmers and agricultural workers.
For youth, the Chief Minister announced that recruitment has commenced across Group 1, DSC, and police services, following the release of a comprehensive job calendar. He also announced the establishment of new institutions, including Skill University, Sports University and upgrades to residential schools and digital learning platforms.
A new era of Industrial Growth and Urban Development
Reflecting on his recent global outreach, including visits to Davos and Singapore, Revanth Reddy confirmed that Telangana has attracted investment from major companies such as Google, Microsoft, PepsiCo, and Foxconn.
On the urban front, the Chief Minister launched projects such as the Musi Riverfront Development, the revamp of Bapu Ghat, and the expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail. He emphasised that the government’s urban strategy focuses on sustainability, accessibility, and cultural preservation.
