A two-day Continuous Rehabilitation Education (CRE) program, approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI), was conducted under the auspices of Helen Keller’s Institute of Research and Rehabilitation for the Disabled Children. Rehabilitation professionals from various regions actively participated in the program. The CRE aims to upgrade the skills of professionals in the field, enabling them to become more effective and active in their duties by earning RCI CRE points.
Dr. Dasari Sunita, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education at Osmania University, Hyderabad, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Patan Ummar Khan, Chairman of the institute attended as Guest of Honor while Dr. Arumugam (Director/Principal) also participated. In her keynote presentation, Dr. Dasari Sunita explained the importance of special education, the need for focused attention on children with special needs, necessary accommodations and the significance of inclusive education.
Chairman Patan Ummar Khan spoke about the concept of inclusive education, the existing gaps and shortcomings in its implementation, and the approaches being followed by the government. Several eminent resource persons with rich experience in the field shared valuable, in-depth knowledge and insights with the rehabilitation professionals over the two days.
