The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with grandeur at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate on Monday. Cyberabad Police Commissioner Dr. M. Ramesh, IPS, hoisted the national flag and paid tributes to freedom fighters by garlanding their portraits. He extended greetings to all police personnel and recalled India’s historic journey, from the first hoisting of the national flag at Red Fort on August 15, 1947, to the adoption of the Constitution on November 26, 1949, which came into effect on January 26, 1950.

The Commissioner highlighted that the Constitution guarantees fundamental rights to every citizen and forms the foundation of democracy. He noted that police duties are performed strictly within constitutional limits and underlined the rights of marginalized communities and women. He added that India’s strong Constitution ensures stability and security amid political unrest in other countries, with the judiciary safeguarding citizens’ rights.

During the ceremony, outstanding police personnel were felicitated for exemplary service. Head Constable Marri Venkat Reddy received the prestigious Police Medal for Gallantry. Several others, including retired DCP L.C. Nayak, SI Shakeb Abdullah, and ASIs K. Ravinder Reddy and Pollangari Satyanarayana Reddy, were awarded for exceptional service. Eleven additional officers from traffic, RTA, and fingerprint units were also honored.
