A delegation of Backward Classes (BC) leaders led by BC Welfare Association National President Jajula Srinivas Goud met Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar in Bengaluru on Monday and invited him to attend the 11th National OBC Convention scheduled to be held on August 7 at the auditorium of Dr. Manmohan Singh City University in Bengaluru.

The delegation called on the Chief Minister at Krishna House and held discussions on several issues concerning Other Backward Classes (OBCs) across the country. The meeting was attended by Karnataka PCC President B.K. Hariprasad, Professor Babanrao Taywade from Maharashtra, Kesana Shankar Rao from Andhra Pradesh, Laxman from Karnataka, Kulkacharla Srinivas Mudiraj from Telangana and other OBC representatives from different states.

During the meeting, Jajula Srinivas Goud urged the Karnataka government to take the initiative in supporting the resolution of long-pending OBC demands at the national level. He raised concerns over the alleged exclusion of OBC family enumeration in the ongoing caste census, sought a sub-quota for OBC women in the Women's Reservation Bill, and demanded reservations for OBCs in proportion to their population. He also highlighted what he described as the continued neglect of OBC issues by the Central government.

Goud informed the Chief Minister that the National OBC Convention has been organised annually for the past decade in cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Tirupati, Amritsar, Goa and Haryana with the objective of bringing OBC organisations across the country onto a common platform. He formally handed over the invitation for this year's convention in Bengaluru.

Responding positively, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar assured the delegation that he would extend his support for efforts aimed at addressing OBC issues and appreciated the decision to host the national convention in Karnataka. He also accepted the invitation and conveyed his willingness to participate in the August 7 event.
