The ESIC Medical College, Hospital and Super Speciality Hospital at Sanathnagar has emerged as a major hub for affordable public healthcare, advanced clinical services, medical education and digital healthcare. A 15-member media delegation from Uttarakhand visited the ESIC campus here on Thursday to witness its healthcare infrastructure and technology-enabled patient services.

Welcoming the delegation, ESIC Medical College and Hospital Dean Dr. S. Seethalakshmi said the ESIC network covered all 33 districts of Telangana through four ESIS hospitals, 70 dispensaries, eight branch offices and 10 Dispensary-cum-Branch Offices. The State has 20.47 lakh insured persons and 74.32 lakh beneficiaries, supported by more than 1.63 lakh employees, she said. The Sanathnagar campus houses a 1,044-bed integrated healthcare facility, including an 800-bed medical college and hospital and a 244-bed super speciality hospital.

The hospital has witnessed a sharp rise in patient utilisation. Annual OPD attendance increased from 6.93 lakh in 2022 to 9.80 lakh in 2025, while admissions rose from 78,086 to 95,037. Surgeries also increased from 16,223 to 20,117 during the period. Bed occupancy stood at 85.6 percent in 2025. The twin hospitals have been recognised as the best performing ESIC hospital in the above 500-bed category since 2019, reflecting their growing role in tertiary healthcare.

On the digital healthcare front, ESIC Sanathnagar has implemented PACS, e-ICU services, online OPD facilities, home drug delivery, home sample collection, online consultations and 5G-enabled ambulance services, besides real-time monitoring systems and e-Office initiatives. The medical college has further strengthened its academic profile with 150 MBBS seats, 106 MD/MS seats, 15 M.Ch. seats, 12 DrNB seats, four DNB and six FNB programmes, besides 72 Allied Health Sciences seats.

The visiting delegation toured the hospital and laboratory facilities and interacted with senior medical and academic officials on the institution's clinical, diagnostic and educational initiatives. With expanding infrastructure, rising patient footfall, advanced transplant services, high-end diagnostics and technology-driven healthcare, ESIC Sanathnagar is fast emerging as a model for public healthcare and medical education, officials said.
