Governor hails young leaders as key to nation-building

The Grand Finale of iVision Youth Parliament–2025, an innovative and creative civic education initiative for school students, was held at BJR Bhavan, Banjara Hills, on Saturday.

The programme was organised by the district education team guidance  of the District Administration, Hyderabad. The event was graced by Governor  Jishnu Dev Varma as the Chief Guest, and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar as the Guest of Honour.

Addressing educators, students, parents, and dignitaries, the Governor described the participants as young changemakers, future leaders, and diplomats, and stated that Parliament and State Legislatures are the highest democratic institutions shaping laws, policies, and the future direction of the nation and the State.

He emphasised the importance of experiential learning in line with the National Education Policy and appreciated the preparation of a student-driven White Paper, terming it an aspirational document reflecting what the present expects from the future.

The Governor noted that the White Paper addressed contemporary governance and development themes and commended the strong participation of girl students, observing that women’s empowerment in India has evolved into a silent yet transformative democratic revolution. He presented awards and certificates to students for outstanding performance at the district level.

Minister for Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar stated that active youth participation is essential for strengthening democracy and improving the quality of politics.

Recalling his own journey from student politics to public life, he emphasised that educated and aware youth must come forward to engage with democratic institutions. The Minister observed that initiatives such as Youth Parliament, mock Assembly, and Model United Nations provide students with a practical understanding of legislative functioning, public policy, and governance, and help nurture responsible future leadership. He called for such initiatives to be implemented and replicated across all districts of Telangana.

The programme was conducted by the School Education Department under the District Education Officer Rohini, Ikshana group represented by Anjali Gupta and Ankur Gupta sponspred by Rotary Lake District represented by Rotarians Sunil Saraf and Raj Shekhar.
