Jayanthi Super Specialty Hospital, has launched a public awareness campaign to spotlight the rising prevalence of diabetes and related chronic diseases. The initiative coincides with World Diabetes Day on November 14.
Dr. Sarat Chandra K, Senior Cardiologist and Managing Director of Jayanthi Hospital, emphasized that regular health check-ups and maintaining key health indicators are critical. ‘Keeping A1c levels below 7%, systolic blood pressure under 130 mm Hg, and LDL cholesterol below 70 mg/dL can significantly reduce the risk of severe complications,’ he said.
Nephrologist Dr. Praveen Kumar Etta stated that nearly half of kidney disease patients have diabetes. ‘Early detection, regular monitoring, and preventive measures are essential to manage the disease and improve quality of life,’ he noted.
Neurologist Dr. Pynam Pranuthi warned that strokes, a leading cause of death and permanent disability, are strongly linked to uncontrolled diabetes. ‘Good Glycaemic control, lifestyle changes, and diet adjustments can prevent such life-threatening complications,’ she added.
Dr. Sundar Singh, General Physician, stressed the importance of lifestyle management, balanced diet, meditation, and medical care. He recommended at least 150 minutes of physical activity weekly, to combat the risks of a sedentary lifestyle.
