The Telangana government, on Monday, extended the tenure of the Commission of Inquiry, headed by Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose, former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, to investigate alleged irregularities in the construction of the Kaleshwaram Project’s Medigadda, Annaram, and Sundilla barrages.

As per the latest Government Order (G.O.Ms.No.18), the commission’s term has been extended by two more months — from June 1, 2025, to July 31, 2025. This decision enables the commission to finalize and submit its report to the state government by July-end.

Sources indicate that the commission is seriously considering summoning former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and former Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao for questioning. Legal experts and commission members believe that submitting the final report without recording statements from these key figures would undermine the integrity and completeness of the inquiry. Upholding principles of natural justice, the commission is reportedly of the view that their testimonies are essential to ensure transparency and accountability.

The commission will continue its sittings in Hyderabad and is expected to focus on gathering final testimonies and corroborative evidence in the coming weeks before finalizing thereport.
