Of failed promises
■ Farmers: Promised ₹15,000 per acre support, ₹2 lakh loan waiver, and ₹500 bonus per quintal of paddy—all left unfulfilled. Tenant farmers and farm labourers too were denied the ₹15,000 and ₹12,000 support promised.
■ Unemployed Youth: Assured 2 lakh jobs and ₹4,000 monthly allowance. After 22 months, each unemployed youth is owed lakhs in dues.
■ Women (Mahalakshmi Scheme): Promised ₹2,500 per month and gold for marriages. Women are each owed around ₹55,000, while nearly 8 lakh newly married women await their promised gold benefit.
■ Pensions: Promised ₹4,000 per month for the elderly and widows—. Divyangs were promised ₹6,000 but are only receiving ₹4,000, effectively losing ₹2,000 monthly.
■ Housing & Welfare: Indiramma houses for the poor, 250 sq. yard plots for Telangana movement activists, scooters for students, ₹5 lakh Vidya Bharosa cards for youth, and ₹24,000 annual support for auto drivers remain pending. Even the Gruhajyothi scheme is poorly implemented.
In a no holds barred account, BRS Working President K T Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the Congress government, alleging massive corruption, negligence, and betrayal of public trust.
KTR accused CM Revanth Reddy of deliberately allowing the recent Musi floods in Hyderabad, which submerged thousands of homes and properties, only to push forward a ₹1.5 lakh crore scam under the guise of the Musi beautification project. He said that had the government acted responsibly and released water in time from the century-old Osman Sagar and Gandipet reservoirs—built by the Nizam precisely to control such flood threats—Hyderabad would have been spared from unprecedented flooding, including the submergence of the Imlibun Bus Stand for the first time in history.
Speaking at an event where several BJP and Congress leaders from Kodangal constituency joined the BRS, KTR targeted Revanth Reddy’s political base. He said Kodangal people, angered by the Anumula brothers’ atrocities, are determined to defeat Revanth at all costs. He predicted that sensing the strong anti-incumbency, Revanth may even shift to contest from another constituency in the upcoming elections. Taking a dig, he remarked that though Revanth is the state’s Chief Minister, Kodangal’s “real CM” is his brother Tirupati Reddy, to whom even district collectors and SPs are bowing down.
KTR ridiculed Revanth and his brother for roaming with scissors in their pockets just to cut ribbons of buildings, bridges, and flyovers constructed during KCR’s tenure. He reminded people that Revanth, who once begged for votes in Kodangal, is now disrespecting the same constituency in the Assembly. He also accused Revanth of grabbing lands for his son-in-law’s factory and oppressing farmers. “Is Kodangal your private jagir?” KTR thundered.
Criticizing the Congress government, KTR said it has not implemented even a single poll promise signed by Rahul Gandhi, Revanth Reddy, and Bhatti Vikramarka. To highlight this betrayal, he unveiled the “Congress Baaki Card,” which details the unfulfilled commitments. He urged citizens to confront Congress leaders during their campaigns and demand that dues be cleared before asking for votes. He contrasted this with KCR’s regime where Rythu Bandhu benefits were credited at the time of sowing, while Revanth’s government is releasing funds only during elections.
On irrigation projects, KTR alleged that Revanth deliberately sidelined the 90% completed Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme only because it would bring credit to KCR. Instead, for the sake of commissions, Revanth initiated a ₹4,500 crore Kodangal Lift Irrigation project, despite knowing that raising the Almatti dam height would deprive the Jurala project of water. He accused the government of awarding these projects to contractors Megha Krishna Reddy and “Bombuleti Srinivas Reddy” (referring to Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy) purely for kickbacks. However, he noted that the courts have now stayed these projects, recognizing the irregularities.
KTR stressed that the people of Telangana need not wait for three more years to teach Congress and Revanth Reddy a lesson. He called for a decisive mandate in the upcoming local body elections, promising that a bumper victory for BRS would pave the way for restoring KCR as Chief Minister. Using a sharp metaphor, he said, “If we switch off the power in Kodangal, Delhi’s lights will go off. If Revanth is tied up in Kodangal, Delhi will tremble.”
Finally, he appealed to Kodangal voters to elect Patnam Narender Reddy in the next election, assuring that it would be a stepping stone for BRS’s resurgence and the return of KCR as Telangana’s Chief Minister.
KTR unveils ‘Baaki Card
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has launched a statewide campaign titled the ‘Congress Baaki (Dues) Card’ to expose what it calls the unfulfilled promises and betrayals of the Congress government in Telangana.
BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR), along with former ministers, unveiled the poster of the campaign at Telangana Bhavan. Addressing the media, KTR said that the Congress government, which came to power by making lofty promises, had utterly failed to implement them, leaving every section of society in distress. He described the “Baaki Card” as a direct counter to the “Guarantee Card” issued by Congress during the election campaign.
KTR urged people to give a strong response to the Congress government in the upcoming Panchayat and Jubilee Hills by-elections, stating that the deceptions of Congress had themselves become the most powerful weapons in the hands of the people. He announced that BRS leaders and workers—from the state level to the grassroots—would distribute these cards door-to-door to make citizens aware of the “dues” Congress owes to different sections.
He recalled that before the elections, Rahul Gandhi had promised to provide legal sanctity to guarantees in the very first Cabinet meeting, yet over 30 Cabinet meetings had passed without any action. He criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka for signing promises on bond papers and promissory notes and now reneging on them.
KTR warned that if people mistakenly trusted Congress again, even flagship schemes like Rythu Bandhu could be scrapped. He accused the government of failing farmers, unemployed youth, women, senior citizens, and marginalized groups alike.
KTR said every line of the “Congress Baaki Card” was proof of the government’s betrayal. He emphasized that BRS will continue to question Congress until every unfulfilled promise is addressed. He also alleged that the government was resorting to vendetta politics by foisting false cases on BRS leaders, but declared that the party would not be silenced. While fighting legally, BRS would also intensify its role as the principal opposition by standing firmly with the people.
To spread the message widely, the “Baaki Cards” are being printed in Telugu, Urdu, and English. KTR appealed to the media to support this campaign in the interest of public awareness. “The Congress gave false guarantees, but the people now have the chance to hold them accountable. The ‘Baaki Card’ is the voice of every betrayed citizen of Telangana,” KTR said
