‘The rise in pancreatic cancer among young adults is alarming, early diagnosis is crucial,’ said Dr. Pavan Addala, Surgical Gastroenterologist at Medicover Hospitals, Secunderabad. To raise public awareness, Medicover Hospitals organized a Walkathon from Necklace Road People’s Plaza to Jalavihar. Speaking at the event, Dr. Pavan highlighted that pancreatic cancer is often called a ‘silent killer’ because early-stage symptoms are unclear, making the disease particularly dangerous.
He noted that India reports nearly 15,000 pancreatic cancer cases annually, with lifestyle factors, unhealthy diets, and excessive alcohol consumption contributing to the growing incidence in Telangana.
Dr. Pavan stressed that early detection, combined with specialized treatment, can significantly improve survival rates. He urged the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle, take preventive measures, and undergo timely medical checkups to reduce risk. The event saw active participation from a large number of people, helping spread awareness about pancreatic cancer, healthy living, and the importance of early medical intervention.
