In a significant move to empower women economically, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu-led NDA government has announced a major initiative on the occasion of International Women's Day. The government has decided to provide tailoring training to women and distribute sewing machines free of cost. This initiative is part of the government’s commitment to fulfilling its election promises and enhancing women's welfare in the state.
Starting from March 8, tailoring training centers will be inaugurated across all constituencies in the state under the supervision of the BC Welfare Department. The program aims to provide 90 days of comprehensive tailoring training under the guidance of experts. Upon completion of the training, sewing machines will be distributed free of cost to the beneficiaries.
The government has identified 1,02,832 women beneficiaries from BC, EWS, and Kapu communities across all 175 constituencies in the state. The initiative has been allocated a budget of Rs. 255 crores. The selection of beneficiaries is in the final stages, and the training will begin soon.
Under the BC Welfare Department, women are being encouraged to participate in event management units, dairy farming, goat rearing, and generic medical shops. Additionally, traditional industries such as Kondapalli toys, Mangalagiri and Dharmavaram sarees, and other small-scale businesses are being promoted to empower women economically.
