Jangaon MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy became the target of a cyber fraud, losing one lakh rupees in a scam that promised financial assistance for unemployed youth.

On April 5, an unknown caller contacted the MLA, claiming to be the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. The fraudster convinced him that the central government was offering loans of up to ten lakh rupees per unemployed individual under a special scheme. To process the loans, the caller asked for a payment of 2,500 rupees per beneficiary. Trusting the information, the MLA transferred a total of one lakh rupees to the account provided by the fraudster.

Suspecting something was wrong, the MLA contacted the Finance Secretary to verify the details. The official clarified that no such instructions had been issued and that no payment was required, revealing the scam. Realizing he had been duped, Palla Rajeshwar Reddy immediately approached Hyderabad Cyber Police to file a complaint.

Authorities have advised citizens and public figures to remain vigilant against unsolicited calls from individuals claiming to be government officials. Cybercrime units urged everyone to confirm such claims through official channels before making any payments.
