Rajya Sabha member and National BC Welfare Association President R. Krishnaiah on Sunday issued a strong warning to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, stating that protests would intensify if the fee reimbursement scheme was altered or discontinued. He alleged that the state government was attempting to scrap the scheme, which supports the education of poor students, and vowed to expand the agitation to the village level. Krishnaiah announced plans for a massive protest in June, including a siege of the Chief Minister’s residence with around five lakh students, along with gheraos targeting ministers and MLAs.

He was speaking at a meeting in Basheerbagh organized by BC student, youth and welfare associations, presided over by Neela Venkatesh and Jillavalli Anji. Krishnaiah recalled his five day hunger strike during the tenure of Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy that led to the introduction of the fee reimbursement scheme, which was later continued by successive leaders.

Accusing the government of neglecting students while spending heavily elsewhere, he demanded immediate clearance of pending dues and withdrawal of G.O. No. 7. He also warned of approaching Narendra Modi over alleged irregularities.
