Rajiv Gandhi remembered

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy stated that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will realise the dreams and aspirations of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi once Rahul becomes the Prime Minister of India. 

Emphasising the importance of Rahul Gandhi's leadership for the country, the Chief Minister declared that both he and the Congress party will work tirelessly until Rahul Gandhi is appointed as Prime Minister.

During a floral tribute at the Secretariat on Wednesday, commemorating the birth anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi, the Chief Minister noted that Rajiv Gandhi serves as a source of inspiration for the youth.

"In accordance with the former Prime Minister's vision, the Congress party plans to revise the current law so that individuals who turn 21 can run for Assembly elections right after Rahul Gandhi takes office as Prime Minister," he said.  Revanth Reddy remembered the significant contributions made by former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi towards improving the lives of the underprivileged, as well as his groundbreaking initiatives in advancing information technology and ensuring transparency within the government. He highlighted that Rajiv Gandhi was instrumental in establishing the foundation for Hitech City in Hyderabad. The Chief Minister noted that Rajiv sacrificed his life to uphold the nation's integrity and integrated technology into governance to promote a transparent administration.

He also acknowledged Rajiv Gandhi's visionary leadership, which included implementing women’s reservation for their empowerment, introducing computers to the country, and enacting transformative changes in the telecommunications industry during his time in office.

The Chief Minister, drawing inspiration from Rajiv Gandhi, stated that the government of Telangana is advancing towards socio-economic progress. He mentioned that the government has already passed legislation to allocate 42 percent of opportunities in education, employment, and politics for Backward Classes. Additionally, he highlighted that Telangana is the first state in the nation to implement sub-categorisation for Scheduled Castes. 

Congress leaders led by TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud garlanded to the statue of Rajiv Gandhi at Somajiguda Circle and recalled his services for the country. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, senior leader V. Hanumantha Rao, MLA Danam Nagender, Fisheries Corporation Chairmen Mettu Sai Kumar and Kalva Sujatha, Women’s Commission Chairperson Nerella Sharada, corporators Sangeetha Yadav, Vijayalakshmi, and several other key leaders were present.
