Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy underscored the importance of inter-departmental coordination in tackling natural calamities, stating that effective crisis management during floods depends on seamless cooperation among various government wings. Chairing a review meeting with officials at the Integrated District Offices Complex (IDOC) in Kamareddy on Thursday, the CM said while every department has its own responsibilities, “working in silos will only complicate matters. During crises, agriculture, irrigation, energy, health, roads and panchayat raj have to function as one.”

Revanth appreciated district officials, SDRF teams, and public representatives for their timely response which, he said, helped avert heavy loss of life in the recent floods. He, however, cautioned that gaps in coordination were still evident and urged all district collectors and senior officials to convene regular joint meetings with all departments to ensure faster redressal of issues. “Politics should not come in the way of relief. In such times, humanity should take precedence over everything else,” he stressed.

The CM suggested a system of token-based distribution of urea to be put in place for Urea distribution to prevent black-marketing and ensure that every farmer received their due share. He noted that agricultural crises often escalate due to lapses in coordination between agriculture, irrigation, and electricity departments, leading to crop and input shortages. “If departments communicate effectively, farmers won’t have to suffer,” he added.

The Chief Minister also pointed out that flood-damaged roads, irrigation structures, and drinking water schemes require immediate restoration. He directed officials to submit detailed reports on damage and prioritise works that directly affect people’s lives. He further stressed the need for permanent planning to prevent recurrence of such calamities, warning that temporary solutions would not suffice. “Kamareddy should become a nodal district in crisis management, setting an example for others,” he said.

The CM assured that all decisions taken in the Kamareddy review would be implemented strictly and said he would take stock of things in 10 days to review the progress. For the larger Nizamabad region, he announced that Minister S. Seethakka would conduct a special review meeting with all MLAs to consolidate constituency-level issues and work towards comprehensive solutions.

Revanth assures equal support to Kamareddy as Kodangal

Prior to the review meeting, CM toured the flood-affected colonies and agricultural fields in Kamareddy district. He interacted with residents of submerged localities such as GR Nagar and inspected damaged roads, bridges, and minor irrigation projects. Emphasizing his personal connection with the district, CM said: “I will treat Kamareddy’s problems on par with those of my own constituency, Kodangal. Relief and rehabilitation here will be carried out with the same seriousness and urgency.”

He distributed ₹5 lakh as ex-gratia to the families of deceased victims, announced assistance to farmers who lost livestock, special funds to clear sand deposits from agricultural lands, and replacement of school kits for children who lost their belongings. He also instructed officials to explore long-term infrastructure solutions such as bridge-cum-barrage and check dam models for the badly damaged R&B bridge at Lingampet.

Commending Yellareddy MLA K Madan Mohan Rao for being by the people during the floods, the CM appealed to all public representatives to stand united during crises. He said the government would ensure 100% resolution of flood victims’ issues, adding that proper documentation and compliance with norms would help secure central relief funds at the earliest.

“The government’s responsibility does not end with short-term relief. We are committed to building permanent safeguards against future disasters while providing complete support to every affected family,” he said.
