Union Minister accuses BRS of ruining Singareni Collieries

  1. Kishan Reddy accused the previous BRS government of mismanaging SCCL and endangering workers with massive debt and corruption
  2. He alleged irregularities and factional clashes within the state government over the Naini coal block issue
  3. The BJP promised transparent governance and administrative reforms in SCCL if voted to power
  4. The Centre announced imminent groundwork for MMTS Phase-3 rail connectivity from Hyderabad to Yadagirigutta
  5. Reddy highlighted Union Budget support and large infrastructure investments positioning Hyderabad as a national growth hub

In a scathing critique of the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi government led by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy alleged that Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) was effectively transformed into a "private limited company" during their tenure, jeopardizing the livelihoods of thousands of employees. Speaking at the state BJP office in Hyderabad, Reddy claimed this shift has plunged the future of SCCL workers into uncertainty and darkness, attributing it to rampant financial irregularities and mismanagement.

Kishan Reddy claimed that ministers in the state government have split into two rival factions and are openly clashing over the Naini coal block issue. He accused the state government of misusing the site-inspection process in coal block allocations, stating that although 17 companies conducted site visits, not a single company was issued a certificate.

The minister highlighted that both the BRS and Congress administrations committed "irreparable injustice" to SCCL, with the State government accumulating a staggering debt of Rs. 51,000 crore owed to the company. He accused KCR's regime of looting Telangana," where corruption flourished unchecked, and ministers prioritized personal gains over public welfare. Reddy further lambasted the BRS for misleading the people of Telangana for decades, fostering an environment of deceit and exploitation. "The previous governments have scrambled wildly for posts and indulged in corruption," he remarked, emphasizing how such practices eroded public trust and hampered the state's progress.

The Union Minister contrasted this with the BJP's vision, promising transformative governance if the party assumes power in Telangana. He assured that the BJP would prioritize protecting the state's interests, including overhauling SCCL's administrative system to ensure transparency and employee security. However, he clarified that the central government holds no direct authority over SCCL's operations, underscoring the need for state-level reforms.

MMTS Connectivity to Yadagirigutta

In a positive development for regional infrastructure, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy provided an update on the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) Phase-3 extension from Hyderabad to Yadagirigutta. He announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will soon perform the ground-breaking ceremony for the project, marking a significant step toward enhanced connectivity to the prominent pilgrimage site.

The MMTS Phase-3 aims to link Hyderabad with Yadagirigutta, facilitating easier access for commuters and pilgrims. While specific details on the route, cost, and exact timeline remain forthcoming, the initiative is expected to boost tourism and economic activity in the region. Reddy's announcement underscores the central government's commitment to improving urban and suburban rail networks in Telangana, with the ceremony anticipated in the near future.

Union Budget focused on long-term growth

Rejecting criticism that the Union Budget prioritises freebies, Kishan Reddy said it is designed for sustainable, long-term development rather than short-term electoral gains. He asserted that the Modi government has consistently delivered on its promises over the last 12 years and described the current Budget as another decisive step towards building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.

He added that the Budget was framed with a national development perspective, not state-wise politics, and assured that development works in Telangana funded by the Centre are progressing smoothly. Adequate funds have been allocated to gram panchayats and urban local bodies, he said.

Hyderabad as the “Hub of Hubs”

Kishan Reddy described Hyderabad as emerging as a global “hub of hubs,” encompassing IT, education, digital infrastructure, high-speed rail corridors, semiconductors, data centres, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. He noted that over 23 lakh MSMEs in Telangana will benefit from incentives announced in the Budget.

The Rs 10,000-crore Bio-Pharma Mission announced for the next five years is expected to significantly strengthen Hyderabad’s position as India’s pharmaceutical capital. He said three new National Institutes of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPERs) will be established, boosting clinical research and regulatory infrastructure to global standards.

Welfare, Agriculture, and Textile Support

Responding to allegations by the Congress against VB-G RAM-G, Kishan Reddy pointed out that the MGNREGA allocation has increased from Rs 88,000 crore in 2025 to Rs 96,000 crore in 2026, reflecting a 9% rise. He added that despite global challenges, the Centre continues to provide substantial fertiliser subsidies to farmers.

Under the textile sector’s initiative, Telangana’s Kakatiya Mega Textile Park will receive further support. He also said the Centre has released Rs 9,502 crore under SASCI, including allocations for Ramappa Temple development and the Somashila Wellness Centre.

Infrastructure Push: Roads, Railways, and Housing

Kishan Reddy stated that nearly 5,000 km of national highways have already been completed in Telangana, with new highway and road-widening projects worth Rs 42,000 crore underway. The Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (northern section) alone has received Rs 21,629 crore.

On railways, he said Telangana has received unprecedented support, with Rs 5,454 crore allocated in the current Budget—six times higher than allocations made during the undivided Andhra Pradesh era. Railway electrification has reached 100% in the state, and major station redevelopment projects are progressing under the Amrit Bharat scheme.

He announced the establishment of a Kavach Centre of Excellence in Secunderabad and highlighted that three of India’s seven proposed high-speed rail elevated corridors will originate from Hyderabad, significantly improving connectivity to Bengaluru, Chennai, and Pune. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Telangana will receive funding for 1.3 lakh urban houses and 3 lakh rural houses. He also said the Urban Development Ministry will soon allocate additional funds for Hyderabad’s expansion.

On airports, Kishan Reddy clarified that while there is no separate airport budget, the Centre remains fully committed to airport development. He also criticised the Congress government for failing to utilise funds allocated for Medaram, recalling that earlier governments had allocated as little as Rs 20 lakh. Kishan Reddy thanked the Prime Minister and Union Ministers for prioritising Telangana in infrastructure and development funding, stating that the Centre remains firmly committed to the state’s progress.
