South Central Railway (SCR) has recorded its highest-ever Gross Originating Revenue of Rs 8,593 crore for the April–August 2025 period, marking a significant achievement in both operational and financial performance. This was announced by SCR General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava during the 76th Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) meeting held at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering, Srivastava highlighted that SCR has transported 60.4 million tonnes of freight so far in the current financial year. He also noted that the zone has achieved 100% electrification across its network, excluding newly sanctioned lines still under construction. Additionally, Indian Railways’ indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection system, KAVACH 4.0, has been sanctioned for 4,655 route kilometers (RKMs) out of SCR’s total 6,532 RKMs.

The meeting was attended by Members of Parliament Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Eatala Rajender, D K Aruna, and G M Harish Balayogi, along with 22 other members representing state governments, Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committees (DRUCCs), consumer organizations, and trade associations.

Srivastava also shared updates on major infrastructure projects underway, including the tripling of key routes: Kazipet–Balharshah, Kazipet–Vijayawada, and Vijayawada–Gudur sections. CCTV surveillance has been installed at 78 stations, with plans to extend coverage to an additional 453 stations.

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 119 stations across SCR are being redeveloped. Among these, Begumpet, Karimnagar, and Warangal stations were inaugurated in May 2025. Passenger amenities continue to improve, with the installation of 208 lifts and 92 escalators. Furthermore, 10 manned level crossings have been eliminated and 24 new bridges constructed to enhance safety and connectivity.
