Telangana police wins national award for passport verification services

The Telangana Police has earned prestigious national recognition from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, for its outstanding performance in passport verification services. The state police has been selected for the “Institutional Performance Award for State Police” based on its exemplary passport verification performance during the financial year 2025–26. 

The award recognizes the Telangana police for its efficiency, transparency, and timely verification of passport applications, which play a crucial role in the passport issuance process. In this regard, B.S. Mubarak, Joint Secretary (PSP) & Chief Passport Officer, Ministry of External Affairs, has formally communicated the selection of Telangana Police for the prestigious award through an official letter addressed to Telangana Director General of Police C.V. Anand. 

The award will be presented during the Passport Seva Divas and Passport Officers’ Conference, scheduled to be held on June 18 and 19, 2026, at the Ministry of External Affairs, Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan, New Delhi. On June 19, Union External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will present the award to DGP C.V. Anand on behalf of the Telangana police at a special ceremony being organized as part of the Passport Seva Divas celebrations. 

Speaking on the occasion, the DGP stated that police verification is one of the most significant stages in the passport issuance process. He noted that the recognition reflects the dedication and professionalism of Telangana Police personnel in ensuring prompt, transparent, and citizen-centric verification services. The Ministry of External Affairs has also extended a special invitation to C.V. Anand to participate in the high-level segment of the passport seva divas and passport officers’ conference. 

The Ministry noted that his presence would significantly contribute to the success of the event. The DGP attributed the achievement to the Telangana Police’s technology-driven verification system, streamlined procedures, and commitment to delivering efficient public services. He said the award is a testimony to the department’s service-oriented approach, professional excellence, and continuous efforts to improve citizen services.
