The 227th board meeting of the Andhra Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited was held on Friday, where key decisions were taken to enhance the corporation's development and improve public services. Minister Manohar highlighted the success of paddy procurement, emphasizing that the process had been conducted in a manner that all stakeholders could take pride in.
To ensure a more efficient procurement process in the next Kharif season, a decision was made to provide specialized training for Rythu Sadhikara Kendras (RSKs). The minister revealed that in the current Kharif season, the government had procured 35.48 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from 5,61,216 farmers, transferring a total of Rs. 8,138 crore directly into their bank accounts. He also confirmed that all necessary arrangements had been made to commence Rabi procurement from April.
The government has launched the Deepam-2 scheme to provide three free LPG cylinders annually to every underprivileged family. Minister Manohar reminded beneficiaries that the deadline to avail the first free cylinder under this scheme is March 31, 2025. So far, 98 lakh beneficiaries have received their first free cylinder under the initiative. Under the scheme, families can book a free LPG cylinder once every four months, with delivery guaranteed within 24 hours in urban areas and 48 hours in rural regions.
Additionally, the amount paid for the cylinder will be refunded to the beneficiaries' bank accounts within 48 hours of delivery. Those facing issues with the scheme can contact the toll-free helpline at 1967 for assistance.
In a bid to enhance the efficiency of storage, transportation, security, and management of agricultural produce, the government has decided to implement Artificial Intelligence (AI) surveillance at private warehouses. AI-powered cameras will be installed to monitor stock levels and ensure security. Additionally, all warehouses will be equipped with solar panels to promote the use of green energy.
As part of the mid-day meal scheme, the government is supplying 1.14 lakh metric tonnes of fine rice to hostels across the state. Minister Manohar emphasized the importance of increasing awareness about millet consumption and announced that soon, millet varieties such as ragi, jowar, and bajra will be made available through fair price shops. The government is currently formulating guidelines to implement this initiative effectively. Further, efforts will be made to increase millet production and educate farmers about its benefits.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to implementing these initiatives efficiently, ensuring better services for farmers and citizens across Andhra Pradesh.
