On World Trauma Day, Medicover Hospitals, Hi-Tech City, unveiled the Telugu States’ first dedicated Department of Trauma and Acute Surgery, setting a new benchmark in advanced emergency care.

Trauma in urban areas extends beyond road accidents, encompassing everyday injuries from falls, workplace mishaps, and construction sites. With over 4.6 lakh road accidents annually in India, timely trauma response can prevent nearly 50% of related deaths.

Led by Dr. Damodar Kakumanu, M.Ch. in Trauma Surgery & Critical Care (AIIMS Delhi), the department features advanced trauma protocols, 24×7 emergency services, and multi-disciplinary teams covering neurosurgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery, and more. The facility offers complete trauma care—from initial response to full rehabilitation.

To mark the launch, public awareness drives were held at Sri Chaitanya IIT Campus and Ameerpet Metro, educating citizens on road safety, first response, and BLS through live demos and safety handouts. Medicover continues its mission to reduce preventable deaths by promoting rapid care, awareness, and education across communities.
