Venky Atluri credits audience for success of ‘Vishanath&Sons’

Tamil star Suriya’s latest family drama Viswanath & Sons, directed by Venky Atluri and featuring Mamitha Baiju as the female lead, has crossed the Rs 150 crore gross mark worldwide within four days of its theatrical release on August 14, 2026. The film is presented by Srikara Studios and jointly produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas.

Speaking to the media, director Venky Atluri expressed happiness over the audience reception and said the response had exceeded expectations. According to the director, Suriya immediately connected with the story, which was originally conceived in 2022 without the actor in mind. The director mentioned that said Suriya wanted the narrative to remain honest and avoided unnecessary commercial elements, particularly in the climax.

The director also acknowledged comparisons with filmmaker Trivikram Srinivas, describing him as one of his major inspirations. He said Trivikram praised Viswanath & Sons after watching it and did not suggest any changes. The director also praised Mamitha Baiju, saying her command of Tamil and comic timing made her ideal for the role. Venky Atluri attributed the film’s strong theatrical performance to audiences’ renewed appetite for wholesome family entertainers and expressed confidence that the film would enjoy a longer run, particularly in Tamil Nadu.
