Andhra Pradesh Minister for Urban Development, Narayana, has strongly dismissed the misinformation being spread about the construction of the state capital Amaravati. Addressing the media during his inspection of various ongoing projects, he reaffirmed the government's commitment to completing the capital city’s construction within three years, as promised to the people and farmers.

“We will complete 100% of Amaravati’s development, including government buildings and all necessary infrastructure, by March next year,” Narayana said, assuring that Amaravati will emerge as a fully developed capital.

Minister Narayana visited ongoing construction sites in Nelapadu, inspecting residential quarters for gazetted and non-gazetted officers along with CRDA engineers. He reviewed progress on multiple towers and enquired about infrastructure works like water supply, drainage, and road construction. He detailed that 1,995 flats across 21 towers are being built for non-gazetted officers. Of these, 9 towers are complete, and the remaining are expected to be ready by December. For gazetted officers, 1,140 flats across 14 towers are underway. 11 towers are already complete, with work on the final 3 in progress.

He added that SRM and VIT Universities are setting up medical colleges in Amaravati, each launching a 50-bed hospital by March 2026, and two CBSE schools by the upcoming academic year.

Minister Narayana assured that development works in return plots allocated to farmers who gave their land for the capital will begin shortly. While monsoon rains have caused slight delays, tenders for these projects have already been finalized. 360 km of trunk roads and 1,500 km of layout roads have been tendered and are ready for execution. Work is also progressing on Kondaveeti Vagu, Palavagu, and the gravity canal, all key to Amaravati’s drainage and irrigation infrastructure.

Narayana also pointed to the damage done to Andhra Pradesh’s global partnerships during the previous YSRCP administration. He recalled how, between 2014 and 2019, the state had entered into an agreement with the Singapore government to develop Amaravati. “We had allotted 1,450 acres under a 42:58 revenue-sharing model via the Swiss Challenge method to attract major companies and generate large-scale employment,” he said.

However, he alleged that the previous government filed cases against Singapore officials and harassed them, leading to a breakdown in relations between the two governments. “We are now working to undo that damage. CM Chandrababu Naidu will lead meetings during our upcoming visit to Singapore to restore Andhra Pradesh’s image and revive those development partnerships,” Narayana added.
