S. Madhusudhana Chary, Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council accused both Congress and BJP of consistently betraying BCs in the name of reservations.

He criticised Congress for its failure to implement the 42 percent reservation for BCs, a BC Sub-Plan with an annual budget of Rs 20,000 crores  and other commitments made in the Kamareddy BC Declaration.

He also questioned why the BJP had not taken steps to amend the Constitution to grant BC reservations in Telangana, as it did to increase reservations in TN.

S. Madhusudhana Chary, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, on Wednesday accused both the Congress and BJP of consistently betraying Backward Classes (BCs) in the name of reservations. He stated that historically, both parties have denied BCs political power, financial support, and adequate representation. He criticised Congress for its hypocrisy and dishonesty regarding its failure to implement the 42 percent reservation for BCs, carry out a full caste census, or fulfill commitments made in the Kamareddy BC Declaration, which includes a BC Sub-Plan with an annual budget of Rs 20,000 crores.

He alleged that for the last 75 years, the Congress has been treating BCs as second-class citizens and is now attempting to gain their votes through empty promises. The BRS legislator dismissed the comments made by TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar regarding his party. He argued that the BJP is equally to blame for misleading backward classes (BCs), and that its justifications for enforcing BC reservations reveal a disdain for them.

The BRS leader questioned why the BJP had not taken steps to amend the Constitution to grant BC reservations in Telangana, as it did to increase reservations in Tamil Nadu. He noted that the previous BRS government led by K. Chandrashekhar Rao had empowered BCs by providing them with important positions, constructing self-respect buildings, and initiating welfare schemes, along with nearly 300 BC Gurukuls. He emphasised, “We will persist in highlighting the Congress’s betrayal until the Kamareddy BC Declaration is fully enacted," cautioning both Congress and the BJP about potential political repercussions from BCs.
