Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, inaugurated 275 CCTV cameras at Aparna One Apartments in Shaikpet today, marking a major step in enhancing security. The launch was followed by a cyber crime awareness programme addressed by the Commissioner.
Jubilee Hills DCP A. Ramana Reddy noted that under Commissioner Sajjanar’s leadership, the 'Jagruti Hyderabad – Surakshit Hyderabad' initiative is spreading awareness about cyber crimes, with police visiting households across the city. This effort has led to a noticeable decline in online fraud complaints.
Multi-Zone IG and Aparna One resident S. Chandrashekhar Reddy praised the system, saying “one camera is equivalent to 100 policemen.” The 275 cameras provide continuous 24-hour surveillance, offering better security than manual guarding and acting as a strong deterrent to criminals.
Commissioner Sajjanar appreciated the apartment management’s initiative and emphasized that CCTV technology plays a key role in public safety. He pointed out its effectiveness in tackling interstate gangs, chain snatching, pickpocketing, and other crimes. Citizens, particularly retirees, were warned about digital scams including fake investments, social media frauds, and “digital arrest” schemes, and advised not to click suspicious links or respond to unknown messages.
He also encouraged residents to join the Hyderabad City Security Council (HCSC) to strengthen city surveillance and highlighted the ongoing 'Cyber Mitra' programme, which assists victims of cyber fraud and works to resolve their issues.
