State Fire Service Director General Nagi Reddy said that all departments need to work in coordination to prevent fire accidents. He said that instructions should be given to the respective departments on the precautions to be taken in advance to prevent fire accidents at a meeting here on Friday.

 Speaking on the occasion, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan said that a survey of dilapidated buildings will be conducted. The civic body is to take strict measures will be taken regarding fire safety in business complexes and business premises, especially town planning officials have been asked to give priority to fire safety in the plan that comes up for approval for new construction.

Town planning officials have also been advised to take precautions regarding fire safety and issue trade licenses or NOCs only if safety measures are in place.
