Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Friday urged YSRCP chief and former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to respect the Indian Constitution by attending Assembly sessions, alleging the Opposition seems to follow “a different constitution,” which holds no validity under the current government.
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Pawan stressed that legislative accountability is a constitutional obligation. “The Assembly is not optional. It is the seat of democracy. Only the Indian Constitution prevails under our government,” he said.
During his Delhi visit, he also toured the National School of Drama (NSD) and announced plans to propose an NSD campus in Andhra Pradesh. Recalling his mentor Satya Murthy’s admiration for NSD, he called it “a miniature India” and emphasized art’s role in reducing societal violence.
Pawan highlighted the global rise of Telugu cinema and assured full state support to the film industry, including facilities, incentives, and policies.
He also visited the NSD bookstore, purchasing several titles, and shared his love for reading despite political responsibilities.
Earlier, he attended the swearing-in of C.P. Radhakrishnan as Vice President, praising the NDA’s choice and expressing confidence in Radhakrishnan’s leadership in the Rajya Sabha.
