Former Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao has urged the state government to officially recognize and celebrate Telangana Liberation Day on September 17. Speaking at the BJP state office during the launch of his book "17 September, Liberation," Rao emphasized the importance of teaching future generations about Telangana's liberation from Nizam rule in 1948, a year after India’s independence.

He called for the inclusion of Liberation Day in school textbooks, highlighting the contributions of leaders like Komuram Bheem and Shoebullah Khan. Rao also stressed the need to document events such as the struggles in Bhairanpalli and Parakala. Recalling that the Golden Jubilee of Liberation Day was first celebrated in 1998, he reiterated his demand for the day to be officially observed by the state government to preserve Telangana’s historical legacy.
