Amaravati’s urban dream rekindled
Metro India News | AMARAVATI
The much-anticipated Happy Nest residential project symbolizing Amaravati’s modern urban dream, is finally regaining momentum after years of stagnation. The high-rise gated community, being executed by NCC Limited at an estimated cost of ₹930 crore, is now witnessing visible construction progress, a far cry from the paralysis that haunted it during the previous regime.
When then Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched the Happy Nest project in 2017, it was celebrated with grandeur, and thousands of aspiring homeowners booked flats in what was projected as Amaravati’s first-of-its-kind luxury housing community.
Spread across 14.46 acres, the plan envisioned 12 high-rise towers (G+19 floors) offering nearly 1,200 premium 2 and 3 BHK apartments in phases. It was marketed as a self-sustained urban ecosystem, complete with landscaped greenery, recreational hubs, fitness zones, community halls, and children’s play areas. For Amaravati’s citizens, it wasn’t just another real estate project; it was the first real glimpse of the capital’s modern lifestyle promise.
However, after 2019, the project slipped into uncertainty. With the YSRCP government pushing its controversial three-capital agenda, Amaravati development projects—including Happy Nest—were left in limbo. Buyers who had invested their life savings were left anxious, with many accusing the government of sabotaging Amaravati’s dream deliberately.
Now, with the NDA government taking charge, the Happy Nest construction is back into gear. Engineers confirm that the pace has picked up, with strict monitoring to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met. Once complete, it will not only house thousands of families but also set a benchmark for international-standard housing in the capital region. While construction momentum has returned, challenges of timely completion and full-scale delivery remain. However, with the coalition government’s political will and NCC’s technical expertise, the project has regained credibility.
