Health Minister cautions officials to be ready amid heavy rain

Minister for Health Damodara Raja Narasimha has directed the officials to remain attentive as the state is expecting heavy rainfall over the next three days, beginning Wednesday.

In a teleconference with senior officials of the Health department, the Minister assessed the current situation. He emphasied that superintendents, Resident Medical Officers (RMOs), medical officers, doctors, and staff must remain at their hospitals during this period and that necessary arrangements should be made. Additionally, he instructed senior officials to cancel all leave for staff.

Officials were also tasked with ensuring that prompt medical assistance is available for patients and pregnant women facing emergencies, and measures should be taken to prevent any hardships.

Raja Narasimha emphasied that pregnant women nearing their due dates should be transferred to hospital birthing waiting areas where they can receive appropriate services. He instructed that ambulances and 102 vehicles be kept on standby, with drivers and EMTs available around the clock to respond to any emergencies and transport patients promptly.

He also mandated that hospitals implement measures to prevent power outages, ensuring generators are activated immediately during any power interruptions, so that patient care remains uninterrupted. Moreover, the Minister requested that electricians be on duty in hospitals at all times. In light of the heavy rains, he called for precautions to be put in place to stop water from entering and pooling inside hospital facilities.

The Minister requested that senior officials from the Health department conduct field visits over the next three days to assess the situation regularly and take appropriate actions as needed.
