Hyderabad-based social and human rights activist, Domestic Violence Crusader Ekta Viiveck Verma, Founder of the Invisible Scars Foundation wins a national honour. She was honoured with the Amazing Indian Award 2025. She is among 12 unsung heroes across the country recognised for their extraordinary service to society.

The award was presented in New Delhi by Mansukh Laxmanbhai Mandaviya, Minister of Labour & Employment and Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports. Instituted by Times Now, the award celebrates individuals whose courage, compassion, and commitment have transformed lives.

Ekta, a Domestic Violence & Abuse (DVA) Specialist, Certified PoSH Trainer, and Chevening Gurukul Fellow, has been a tireless advocate for the rights and dignity of women facing domestic abuse. Through the Invisible Scars Foundation, she has worked to provide shelter, legal aid, livelihood support, and emotional healing to survivors of abuse.

“This recognition is not just for me, but for every survivor who has faced the world with courage,” said Ekta. “My journey began from witnessing emotional abuse in family systems, and I am determined to push for awareness, policy change, and a society free of such abuse.”

Her recent landmark initiative in collaboration with the International Arbitration and Mediation Centre (IAMC), Gachibowli — India’s first Family Mediation Training Program for non-legal professionals — has been hailed as a significant step towards conflict resolution in domestic disputes.

The jury for the Amazing Indian Awards 2025 included Neerja Birla, Padmaja Ruparel, Sanjeev Bikhchandani, Prasoon Joshi, and Ashishkumar Chauhan. Ekta’s work stands as a testament to the transformative power of empathy, persistence, and action in creating safer, more equitable communities.
