The executive members of the Senior Journalists Association submitted a formal petition on Thursday to State Information Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, requesting the extension of pension benefits to retired senior journalists.

Association representatives — Lakshmana Rao, Rajeshwara Rao, Venugopal, and N. Srinivasa Reddy — appealed for the implementation of pension and health insurance schemes, akin to those offered to senior journalists in other states.

In response, Minister Srinivas Reddy reacted positively, announcing the formation of a dedicated committee to examine the proposal. He also discussed the issue in the state cabinet and assured the delegation that appropriate steps would be taken to deliver justice to the retired journalists.
