Minister for Excise, Tourism and Culture Jupally Krishna Rao on Thursday launched the three-day National Sports Week celebrations at the National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM), Hyderabad.The celebrations feature a series of programs focusing on health, wellness, and institutional development.The inaugural session began with a yoga camp led by trainer Smriti Pandey, which saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister called upon students and faculty to work collectively to position NITHM as a leading institution of excellence. He stressed on introducing new academic programs, short-term and skill development courses, expanding employment and entrepreneurship opportunities, and upgrading campus infrastructure.Jupally Krishna Rao assured complete support from the Telangana government and directed the NITHM Director to prepare a comprehensive action plan in consultation with the special chief secretary.
He further stated that the government is giving special focus to tourism and hospitality, with plans to improve infrastructure at major tourist destinations, develop historical and cultural sites, and promote them globally. The Minister also urged the private sector to explore investment opportunities in this growing sector.NITHM Director Prof. Venkata Ramana, Dr. P.L.N. Patel (Srikara Hospitals), faculty, staff, and students participated in the celebrations.
