BRS working president K T Rama Rao on Saturday challenged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to prove that his government had issued fresh notifications and filled 70,000 government jobs, stating that he would quit politics permanently if the claim was proved.
Addressing the ‘Yuva Sangrama Sammelan’ at Saroor Nagar on Saturday, KTR accused the Congress government of taking credit for recruitments initiated during the previous BRS regime and misleading unemployed youth with “false figures”. He alleged that the government was running a “scam calendar” instead of a job calendar and said there were no notifications, only “lootifications”.
KTR claimed that the Congress party’s Youth Declaration had become a “death declaration” among Telangana youth due to unfulfilled promises. He said the same Saroor Nagar Stadium, where Congress launched its Youth Declaration three years ago, had now become a platform where unemployed youth were expressing their anger against the government.
He accused Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, of betraying Telangana youth and said the promises of two lakh government jobs in the first year, a job calendar and Rs 4,000 unemployment allowance had not been fulfilled.
Criticising Rahul Gandhi, KTR said the Congress leader’s “Mohabbat Ki Dukaan” had turned into a “Gaddari Ka Makaan” for Telangana youth. He questioned Rahul’s silence over protests by unemployed youth and alleged that the government was suppressing voices through arrests and police action.
KTR alleged that Revanth Reddy was focused on filling the pockets of Congress leaders in Delhi instead of providing jobs to youth. He claimed that unemployed aspirants protesting for jobs in Ashok Nagar and Dilsukhnagar were facing arrests and police action.
“Till now it was one account, from now it will be another account,” KTR said, warning that youth would teach the Congress government a lesson. He assured unemployed youth that he would stand by them like an elder brother and work for their interests.
Defending the BRS government’s record, KTR said his party had initiated the process for filling 2.32 lakh jobs during its 10-year rule and created around 27 lakh government, private and employment opportunities. He admitted that the government should have acted faster during the TSPSC paper leak issue but said corrective measures would be taken in the future.
KTR claimed that the BRS government had filled 1.62 lakh government posts without publicity campaigns or advertisements. He challenged the Congress government for a debate on employment issues and accused it of spreading misinformation.
KTR alleged that the Congress government had fostered a culture of "donations and deals," affecting industries and IT employment, while accusing the BJP of diverting investments from Telangana. Urging unemployed youth to protest democratically, he asked them to avoid violence and assured them of BRS's support. Recalling his own educational and career struggles, he criticised leaders who, he said, lacked firsthand experience of unemployment.
KTR promised that if BRS returned to power, youth welfare, job calendars and recruitment would be prioritised. During the meeting, unemployed youth voiced grievances against the Congress government, with youth occupying the front rows and senior BRS leaders seated behind them.
