The Government of Telangana has appointed Lieutenant general Harpal Singh (retd), former Engineer-in-Chief of the Indian Army and Director General of Border roads organisation, as its Advisor by recognizing his outstanding contributions to infrastructure and engineering in India.

With over 40 years of distinguished service, Harpal Singh has got the distinction of executing several landmark infrastructure projects, including the Atal Tunnel under Rohtang pass" and other critical tunnels in extremely challenging Himalayan geology.  

A civil engineer with advanced training in the USA, he has also guided major civil infrastructure projects. He has served as the President of International Road Federation, Vice Chairman of Institution of Civil Engineers (India) and Chairman of Indian Institute of Bridge Engineers, and Vice President, Construction Industry Development Council. He has guided several mega civil and defence infrastructure projects and continues to contribute to the field through leadership roles in professional bodies.

The state Irrigation department will utilize his expertise to troubleshoot and accelerate the ongoing irrigation projects in Telangana.
